Witchcraft “Legend”

No soy de los que han puesto el grito en el cielo por lo nuevo de Witchcraft. Si bien es innegable el giro stoner que han dado los suecos, me convence el resultado y me resulta comprensible la exploración de una vía que, todo sea dicho, de entre las elegibles, no es que quede muy lejana del sonido tradicional del grupo. La aparición más frecuente de algunos solos de guitarra aporta un toque novedoso a la música y la voz de Pelander es la misma de siempre, es decir, estupenda; el único pero, quizá: algunos temas no parecen tan bien resueltos como en ocasiones anteriores. Todo ello no es, de cualquier modo, óbice para recomendarlo más que tranquilamente.
I'm not in the side of the ones that don't like Witchcraft's new album.Even if one cannot deny their new “stonerish” vibe, i like the result and i understand the will to explore a path that, within the given possibilities, is not too far from the traditional sound of the band. The more frequent presence of guitar soloes adds a new dimension to the music and Pelander's voice is the same as always, that is, a great voice; the only thing i slightly dissapoint is the fact that some songs don't seem to be someway finished, at least compared with their previous works. All that is not, anyway, enough to make me desist to recommend you this album.

O'Brother “Garden Window”

Un serio riesgo estaba corriendo “Garden Window” de desaparecer en mi caótica memoria y este sí que habría sido un imperdonable despiste, ya que este quinteto de Atlanta es, al menos hasta la fecha y para mi conocimiento, la única banda de poner en contacto mundos de lo más diversos y que no recuerdo haber oído juntos en otra ocasión. No se trata (al menos, a mí no me lo parece) de unos simples hipsters fascinados por la distorsión: cuando toca, O'Brother hacen ruido y pegan duro con tanta convicción como componen temas que podrían hacer moverse al más moderno de los modernos (aficionado a las distrosiones, eso sí). O'Brother abren un nuevo camino en el universo sonoro sin perecer víctimas del “qué dirán” y esa es una de las mejores noticias que uno podría encontrarse. Requetechapeau.
For some time “Garden Window” was taking the risk of dissapearing within my chaotic memory; this would have been and unforgivable dismissal due to this quintet's unique (to my knowledge) ability to contact very different kinds of sound i dont'r remember to hear together before. It's not (at least, it doesn't seem to me) a simple case of distortion-bewitched hypsters: when it's time, O'Brother make noise and hit hard with the same belief they use to compose songs which could make the most (distortion-friendly) cool guy dance frantically. O'Brother open a new path in the music universe without worrying about how trendies will judge them, and that is one of the best news one could find. Double (and triple) chapeau.
